SPOTLIGHT OF THE MONTH

ANGELO "AJ" SIOSON

 

This weeks "SPOTLIGHT OF THE MONTH" comes from choreographer Angelo Sioson. Angelo “A.J.” Sioson is the Founder and Owner of B Box Entertainment, a media and event production company based out of the San Jose, CA. Founded in 2001, B Box Entertainment’s most notable project is the Battlefest Live U.S. Tour, a 7 city series of urban dance competitions. The series is currently in a commercial rights agreement with Comcast Cable and Cox Cable’s Hip Hop on Demand channel to broadcast the events to its 32 million customer base later this year. 

In May 2010, B Box will launch Dance Crew, a video game for the Apple iPhone, and iPad in the Fall. Players will be able to choreograph dance routines via the gestures on their screen, and in a later update, compete against one another's friends and purchase music and costumes. 

Other projects include: Bamboo Park Filipino American Arts Festival, Beat Junction Urban Dance Showcase, DanceLife247.com, and B Box Live Sessions.

ATLANTA STAGEPLAY AUDITIONS

The Gospel stageplay "Addiction: No One Knows But Me" showing December 2010 in Atlanta, GA, will host auditions from Thursday and Friday July 8th and 9th: 6pm-8pm and Saturday July 10th from 2pm-4pm.

Located at: Lisa's Dance Spot, 6205 Veteran's Memorial Hwy, Austell, GA 30168.

All actors, singers and dancers are welcome to audition, Ages 8 and up*. Please remember to bring a headshot of yourself, short monologue (for actors), 1 song selection for dancers and singers.

*We are also looking for young actors ages from 8-11.

WHITE CHRISTMAS- AEA AUDITIONS 

On Saturday, June 19 at 10:00am (10am-11am registration) at the Alliance Theatre there will be an open audition (Equity/non) for a new production "White Christmas". This audition is for girls. They are seeking the following role:

Susan Waverly: The General’s granddaughter. There will be 2 girls sharing this role on the tour and the exact performance schedule will be determined. Interested girls between the ages of 10-13 years old who sing and dance well.

Tentative Schedule:
Rehearses: October 11 – 23, 2010 in NYC. Travel: October 24, 2010 – Cast travels to Tech. Location.
Runs: November 2 – 7, 2010 at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA. Tours Through: January 2, 2011 in Greenville, Harford, Schenectady, Tampa, Charlotte and Chicago.

*NOTE to Parents: If your child is selected for the show, she must participate in all rehearsals and performances.

*In order to be cast in Irving Berlin’s WHITE CHRISTMAS you must be available from October 11, 2010 through January 2, 2011 and be able to make a commitment for this entire time period.

Notes/What to bring:
You must register to audition.
Callbacks will take place in the afternoon.

You should prepare to sing “Let Me Sing And I’m Happy” from the show. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella, pop or rock selections please. Please wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to dance.

You must bring TWO copies of your picture and resume, each stapled together, in order to audition

NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH AUDITIONS

National Talent Search USA will host a open talent call auditions for singers, dance crews & models on Saturday, June 5th from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the Sheraton Suites Galleria Atlanta located at 2844 Cobb Parkway SE, Atlanta. A-TOWN DANCERS AUDITIONS

A-Town Dancers will be holding an open call audition Sunday, June 13th at Phillips Area Practice Court. New this year the A-Town Dancers will be made up of dancers and cheerleaders. If you have what it takes, join the A-Town Dancers at their open call!! Dancing and tumbling experience a plus but not required.

All Cheerleaders – Registration – 9:00 a.m.
Clinic – 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
$25 Registration Fee

All Dancers – Registration – 1:00 p.m.
Clinic – 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
$25 Registration Fee

Finalist Meeting: 5:00pm

Once selected to the final round participants will be expected to be present during the Fabulous Finalist Week. All events of the final week of auditions are mandatory.

Fabulous Finalist Week includes:

  • Monday, June 14th – Interviews – 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Monday, June 14th – Fitness/Boot Camp - 6:00-10:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 15th – Interviews – 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 15th – Media/Rule & Regulations/Uniform Try-on/Sidelines/Improv - 6:00-10:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 16th – Fabulous Finalist Mixer - 8:30-10:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 17th – Finals – 6:00-10:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 22nd – First Official Team Meeting (Mandatory) 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 19 years of age prior to auditioning
  • Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D.
  • Must have a part-time or full-time job, or be a college or professional student

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Official uniforms, promotional and some practice wear are provided. Dance Team members are responsible for maintaining the uniform, poms, warm-ups, shoes, and practice wear.

REHEARSALS

Three times a week, this year held Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, extra rehearsals added as needed. Any dancer missing a rehearsal prior to a home game will not be allowed to perform at that game. Any dancer missing multiple games is subject to dismissal from the squad. If you cannot attend the majority of rehearsals and games, do not consider auditioning.

COMPENSATION

Dancers are paid for home games, rehearsals and promotional appearances.

COMMUNITY

Each dancer is required to meet a minimum number of charity and sponsor appearances throughout the season.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Dancers must be at home games 2.5 hours prior to tip-off for pre-game rehearsals. Dancers are expected to participate in home games, home playoffs and the NBA Championship Game. You must be able to attend all Atlanta Hawks team events regardless of where you live.

FUTURE SHOCK ATLANTA

Future Shock Atlanta will be holding dance auditions Saturday, June 19 th at the Studio Atlanta Dance @ 12:30pm sharp for dancers ages 8-17 years old. There is a $10 Registration fee to audition.

The organization has been in affect for 2yrs now. Future Shock Atlanta provides those dancers ages 17 and under with substantial experience studying and performing urban dance forms. Future Shock Atlanta is affiliated and mentored by Culture Shock Atlanta. This is a family environment that fosters teamwork, respect, and positive self-expression. Future Shock dancers are required to maintain satisfactory grade point averages and participate regularly in local community events.
